History

Originally, the development of quiz machines was to allow premises a machine that money could be won from which were also exempt from gaming license duty. Quiz machines are games of skill, not chance. As the outcome is dependent on the player’s ability.

 

In 2013, a new tax system called Machine Games Duty (MGD) was introduced. The tax applies to any machine where a prize greater than the cost per game could be won, regardless of if through skill or chance. Quiz machines are taxed as a gaming machine. Click here for further information about MGD

• Quiz machines are available to premises excluded from gaming machines.

• Premises permitted to have gaming machines can have quiz machines in addition to their stipulated number of gaming machines (with quiz machine content only).

• We can add gaming content to our quiz machines to cater to all customers. The existing quiz machine games will be available in addition to £100 jackpot fruit machine games, Roulette, Blackjack, Poker & low stake 10p play/ £5 jackpot games. ​
